International Internships - Educating professionals for the world

In these times of rapid globalisation and polarisation we find it of the utmost importance to teach our students world citizenship. We aim to offer our top students the opportunity of a lifetime; a unique work based learning experience abroad. 

We are the Shipping & Transport College, part of the STC-Group, based in Mainport Rotterdam. We offer secondary Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the Netherlands. We are the main supplier to the labour market of young professionals specialised in the shipping, transport and logistics industry. 

Our students are acquiring competencies in order to perform as logistical process managers and to excel in the job roles of for instance ‘ship agent’ or ‘forwarder’.

We are looking for international business partners that are willing to help us facilitate internship work placements for our students.   ​

​We pride ourselves in having solid relationships with our business partners. To become an education business partner you only need to contact us via email to commence an exchange of information. Establishing mutual trust and understanding has our main focus. Once our national accreditor (SBB) officially verifies you are a suitable work placement company, there is very little to hold us back.
For many years now we have enjoyed long lasting partnerships with (among others) the following companies:

National education system​

​STC is part of the Dutch MBO (VET) sector that consists of specialised vocational colleges offering educational programmes for specific industrial branches, such as the maritime industry. This sector is responsible for our main national labour force, often regarded as the ‘foundation of the economy’ and the ‘backbone of society’. 40% of the Dutch labour force has obtained a vocational qualification.  

Our school based learning programmes have four different levels:
  1. Level 1 entry level;
  2. Level 2 basic vocational training;
  3. Level 3 full professional training;
  4. Level 4 middle-management and specialist training.

These four levels correspond with European Qualification Framework (EQF) levels. The level 4 qualification offers access to follow up studies, at universities of applied science, for an associate or bachelor degree.

Students eligible for an international internship are selected from level 3 and 4.
